From July 1, 2022, the Transparency Act came into force in Norway.
The purpose is to promote companies’ respect for fundamental human rights and decent working conditions among business partners and in supply chains.
A significant part of the law is to ensure public access to information regarding these conditions and how companies handle them.
Along with other measures, the legal requirement aims to contribute to Norway’s efforts to meet and comply with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal No. 8 on decent work and economic growth, as well as Goal No. 12 on responsible consumption and production.
The core of the law involves an obligation to perform and report on due diligence assessments.
